Summary

The grant program is open to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, public entities, and other charitable, educational, or cultural organizations operating within the CSRA. Eligible applicants must provide programs and services that directly benefit individuals in the region.

Grant funds are intended to support programs and services that address community needs in areas such as arts, culture, history, education, youth enrichment, health, environmental services, and assistance for people in need. The foundation encourages innovative and high-quality applications that demonstrate a positive impact on the community.

The application process typically opens each summer, usually in July, and remains open until mid to late August. Applicants are encouraged to participate in informational sessions provided by the foundation before the application period opens. These sessions offer insights into the application process and tips for strengthening proposals. After the application deadline, the foundation's staff and community volunteers review applications and conduct site visits. Final decisions are made by the Board of Directors in late November, with grant award announcements in early December.

Grant requests should not exceed $15,000 per application. There is no set minimum amount for grant awards. Organizations are allowed to submit only one application per grant cycle. The foundation does not fund grants to individuals, capital campaigns, deficit financing, endowments, political organizations, lobbying efforts, programs requiring participation in religious services, special fundraising events, marketing endeavors exceeding 30% of the grant request, core operating expenses for elementary and secondary schools, regranting, projects typically funded by government entities, or programs that have already taken place or will be completed in the current calendar year.
