Grant Overview
Georgia's design industry is characterized by a diverse range of professionals and firms, with a strong presence in cities such as Atlanta and Savannah. However, despite this industry diversity, many underrepresented groups in Georgia face significant barriers to accessing design education and career advancement opportunities. Unlike neighboring states, Georgia's history of civil rights activism and its commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion create a unique context for equity-focused design education initiatives. To be eligible for funding, applicants must demonstrate a clear understanding of Georgia's design education landscape and a willingness to address the financial barriers that prevent underrepresented groups from accessing design education. Georgia's Equity-Focused Design Education Access program will be evaluated based on its potential to drive meaningful outcomes, including increased diversity and inclusion in the design industry. Applications will be assessed on their clarity, feasibility, and potential for impact, with priority given to projects that demonstrate a strong commitment to equity and inclusion. Successful applicants will receive funding to support scholarship activities, including tuition assistance and programmatic support. Georgia's Equity-Focused Design Education Access aims to produce outcomes that are measurable and meaningful, including improved student outcomes and increased diversity in the design industry. By supporting equity-focused design education initiatives that address the financial barriers faced by underrepresented groups, this program seeks to drive innovation and creativity in Georgia's design industry while promoting positive change in local communities. With a focus on promoting diversity and inclusion, Georgia's equity-focused design education initiative will help to address the state's most pressing design challenges and promote more equitable and sustainable design outcomes. The program will be implemented in various regions across Georgia, including rural areas, where design education resources are often limited. By prioritizing initiatives that are responsive to these regional needs, the program will help to address the state's most pressing design challenges and promote more equitable and sustainable design outcomes. Barriers to design education in Georgia include financial constraints, lack of access to design resources, and limited opportunities for career advancement. By addressing these barriers, Georgia's Equity-Focused Design Education Access program will help to promote more equitable and sustainable design outcomes across the state.
